320 - 100 Years of Nurse Practitioner - Occupational Physician Collaboration

The three presenters together represent almost 100 person-years of physician nurse practitioner collaboration in academics, primary care, large health care systems, and regulatory / enforcement agencies. Each presenter will briefly outline their own work and collaboration, the principles and infrastructures that made that possible, and the problems that arose. In the course of the presentation, the evolution of formal relationships; the operational histories, including professional regulations; and the implications for clinical practice, including scope and licensing, will become clear. The presenters will describe the approaches to collaboration that evolved based on quality management principles in health care systems.
