Feel refreshed at work with these restorative yoga poses and breathing techniques you can do anywhere, anytime.
Restorative yoga is a gentle and therapeutic type of yoga that focuses on relaxation, deep breathing, and supported poses that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Yoga can help with stress relief as it activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the body’s relaxation response. Research suggests that yoga may also enhance sleep quality, relieve neck pain, migraine or tension-type headaches, low-back pain and pain associated with knee osteoarthritis. It may also help people manage anxiety symptoms or depression. The first 15 minutes of Yoga for Occupational Health will focus on what the research and data says about the prevalence of workplace stress, followed by a 30-minute restorative chair yoga flow taught by Alexa Ard focused on pranayama (breathwork) and gentle movements to promote peace and clarity within the mind and body by lowering the body's stress hormone, cortisol.
