Kayla Keenan earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Stony Brook University and her master’s degree in health administration from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is currently a third-year medical student at the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine.
Ms. Keenan brings over 7 years of pre-hospital emergency medical service experience. She served as Lieutenant with the Town of Hempstead Emergency Medical Services (TOH EMS), where she oversaw patrol operations and managed response efforts within the TOH Emergency Medical Operations Center (EMOC) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, Ms. Keenan has been an active member of the Manhasset Lakeville Fire Department Ambulance Unit since 2017, serving as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (A-EMT) and holding roles as the Unit Secretary and Second Lieutenant. Currently, Ms. Keenan works as an Emergency Management Program Specialist for Northwell’s Crisis Management and Corporate Security Teams.
As a future physician, Ms. Keenan plans to leverage her experience in emergency medical services and emergency management to engage clinical professionals and highlight their critical role in effective disaster response and continuity of operations. She has a particular interest in occupational exposure and safety, with a focus on improving practices in these areas.
