Foster Lerner holds a D.O., an M.P.H., and an M.A. degree in general Biology. He is Assistant Clinical Professor of Preventive, Occupational, & Environmental Medicine (POEM) in the POEM Department of the School of Medicine at the University of Texas at Tyler. He was born in Orlando, Florida. He completed his B.S. and M.A. degrees at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He earned his D.O. at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at NSU in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. He did his Internship at the Mountain State Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institutes Bluefield Regional Medical Center Family Medicine Residency in Bluefield, West Virginia. He graduated from the OEM Residency Program of the SOM at UTTyler, simultaneously earning his M.P.H. He is a member of the ABPM, the American Osteopathic Association, and the American Osteopathic College of Occupational and Preventive Medicine. He has interests in Lifestyle Medicine, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Wound Care, and Correctional Medicine. In addition to his duties as a staff physician at the OHC, he provides medical services at the Eastman Chemical plant in Longview, and primary care for incarcerated persons at the Smith County Jail in Tyler for UTHealth East Texas. He asks his residents to name one thing they learned and one person they helped each day. Hobby-wise he is the Director of Sacred Music at a small Traditional Latin Mass Parish in Tyler where he arranges, teaches and practices Gregorian Chant, Hymnody, and Sacred Polyphonic Music, using the curriculum of the Royal School of Church Music, leading other ensembles for occasions. He created & co-teaches with his wife "Theology of Marriage and Dance," a Ballroom Dance and Marriage catechesis program for married and single Catholics. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus fraternal organisation, and a member of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter.
