Dr. Mary Ann Orzech, MD, MS, MBA helps healthcare professionals, executives, and organizations enhance patient safety, foster collaboration, and build trust-based leadership teams as a strategic advisor and consultant at Mary Ann Orzech Consulting. With 28 years of service in the United States Air Force, including 8 years flying in the backseat of an F-16 as a flight surgeon, Dr. Orzech brings unique insights from aviation safety and leadership to healthcare. Her F.L.I.G.H.T. Leadership Model applies these principles to help healthcare organizations create safety-focused and human connection cultures that support patients and the workforce.
A board-certified Aerospace and Occupational Medicine specialist, Dr. Orzech served as Commander of the Aerospace Medicine Squadron and taught healthcare management at the University of New Mexico. She understands the increasing demands for collaboration in patient-centered care and works with healthcare leaders to develop the skills necessary to thrive in these dynamic environments.
Dr. Orzech is particularly passionate about helping women physicians aim higher by amplifying their voices, influence, and leadership potential through coaching and educational programs. She also trains healthcare leaders and professionals on purpose-based human connection skills, emphasizing the importance of narrative competence, listening, empathy, and psychological safety to foster trust and engagement in their teams.
Her coaching and training programs focus on helping physicians and leaders connect on a deeper level by understanding the goals and challenges of patients, colleagues, and teams. Dr. Orzech believes that building strong human connection is essential for thriving in healthcare, where trust and psychological safety are vital for success.
Outside her professional work, Dr. Orzech enjoys spending her free time golfing at her local country club in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
