Dr Shane Journeay PhD, MD, MPH, FRCPC, BC-OEM, is the JD Irving Endowed Chair in Occupational Medicine at Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick (Dalhousie University) and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto. He is a Dual-Certified physician in Occupational Medicine (Harvard) and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Toronto). In addition to his clinical practice in occupational medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation, he serves as the Medical Lead for physical injuries at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario. He continues to consult for a range of employers, industries and workers compensation boards on matters related to occupational medicine and rehabilitation. He has an ongoing research program in occupational medicine and serves on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Occupational Medicine and Toxicology and the PM&R Journal. Dr. Journeay previously received a BSc and MSc (thermal physiology) from the University of Ottawa, and a PhD (Toxicology) at the University of Saskatchewan. He obtained his MD from Dalhousie Medical School. Dr Journeay has had a long-standing interest in human health and performance across the lifespan with a particular interest in the relationship between work and health.
