Dr. Rupali Das is Senior Vice President and California Medical Director at Zenith Insurance Company, where she collaborates with the leadership team and all departments to provide guidance for appropriate delivery of medical care to workers while also balancing business process needs. She is Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF Division of Occupational, Environmental, and Climate Medicine and continues to teach and mentor residents and students. Dr. Das is a Past President of the Western Occupational and Environmental Medical Association (WOEMA) and co-founder and chair of WOEMA’s Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee.
She received her MD degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and her Master's degree in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine/Occupational Medicine and is an ACOEM Fellow. She is a recipient of the WOEMA Jean Spencer Felton Award for Scientific Writing.
Dr. Das started her clinical occupational medicine practice treating injured workers and consulting with employers at the Palo Alto Medical Clinic in California’s Silicon Valley. She worked to reduce the public health mpacts of chemical pollutants at Cal/EPA and for over 10 years led occupational pesticide illness tracking and other programs at the California Department of Public Health’s Occupational Health Branch. She served as Chief of the Biomonitoring California program at CDPH and as Executive Medical Director of the Division of Workers' Compensation, California Department of Industrial Relations.
Dr. Das is passionate about injury and illness prevention and promoting wellness. She serves as a mentor for high-achieving undergraduate students from underserved communities as part of the Thrive Scholars program. She is proud to be a board trustee of Cal Performances at UC Berkeley, promoting the performing arts and exploring the connections between science and the arts.
