Occupational eye injuries continue to be a significant problem in the workplace, considering 800,000 eye injuries occur annually on the job in the United States, including 36,000 that are lost-time accidents. This course presents the most common ocular conditions likely to be encountered, and how they should be evaluated and managed. The ultimate goal is to remind attendees of the importance of appropriate eye protection in the workplace since a majority of the injuries presented are preventable. The impact on work accommodations for individuals suffering eye injuries will also be discussed.

Explain the need for the appropriate eye protection for prevention of occupational eye injuries.
Recognize the most commonly occurring eye injuries, including appropriate triage, diagnosis and management.
