105 - Environmental Health: How to Incorporate It into Your Clinical Practice

Environmental health is becoming more and more prominent, especially with climate change threatening our health. Occupational medicine healthcare professionals are poised to become leaders in this field with expertise in occupational and environmental history taking, risk assessments, and public health. As this field develops, and more patients begin seeking care and information on the effects of the environment on their health, it will be imperative to have a model for disseminating this information. We will dive into ways that you can incorporate environmental health into your practices, research, and other work. We will do this with a panel of experts who have a budding and existing environmental health aspect to their work. This will include those who see patients with environmental health concerns, those who are doing environmental health research, and those who do environmental health education.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define environmental medicine and understand its importance in occupational and environmental medicine.
  • Identify other colleagues who are interested in or currently incorporating environmental health into their practices. This will serve as a network to allow for potential collaboration and questions in the future.
  • Identify ways that they can incorporate environmental health into their current practices.
